How to Use Amaze-INK® to Clean Canon Printer

Maintaining a clean print head is essential for optimal performance in Canon desktop printers. Over time, print heads can become clogged, leading to poor print quality. Freehand Graphics' Amaze-Ink® Liquid Inkjet Clog Buster offers an effective solution for manually cleaning severely clogged Canon print heads. This guide outlines the step-by-step process to restore your printer's functionality using Amaze-Ink.

Supplies Needed:

Procedure:

  1. Prepare the Cleaning Solution:
    • Pour approximately a quarter-inch of Amaze-Ink into the tray, ensuring there's enough solution to fully submerge the print head.

  2. Remove the Ink Cartridges:
    • Power on the printer and open the top cover to access the ink cartridges.
    • Carefully remove each ink cartridge and set them aside on a clean surface.

  1. Extract the Print Head:
    • Lift the gray locking lever to release the print head.
    • Gently remove the print head from its slot, avoiding contact with the electrical contacts and nozzles.

  2. Soak the Print Head:
    • Place the print head into the Amaze-Ink bath, ensuring it is fully submerged.
    • Allow the print head to soak for at least 30 minutes. For severe clogs, it can be soaked safely for longer periods, even overnight, as Amaze-Ink is non-corrosive.

  3. Dry the Print Head:
    • After soaking, remove the print head from the solution.
    • Gently pat it dry with the lint-free cotton cloth. Avoid rubbing; a gentle pat is sufficient to absorb excess cleaner.
    • It's acceptable if the print head remains slightly damp; Amaze-Ink is safe for the printer.

  4. Reinstall the Print Head and Cartridges:
    • Place the print head back into its slot and secure it by lowering the gray locking lever.
    • Reinsert the ink cartridges into their respective slots.
    • Close the printer cover.

  5. Dispose of Used Solution:
    • Safely dispose of the used Amaze-Ink solution.

  6. Perform a Nozzle Check:
    • Print a nozzle check pattern to assess the cleaning results.
    • If the print quality has improved, resume regular printing.
    • If issues persist, consider running the printer's built-in cleaning function or repeating the manual cleaning process.
