Canon vs Epson Printhead Technology

When choosing between a Canon or Epson printer, understanding the basics of each brand will help make the best decision.

Canon printers use thermal heat technology in their print heads forcing an ink bubble out of a port at a very high rate. During printing, the print head heats up in areas with data and cools down in areas without data.

Epson printers feature a heat-free electric Piezo print head. Piezoelectric elements contract when an electrical voltage is applied, creating a mechanical motion that ejects ink droplets onto the paper. This method ensures consistent results throughout the print process.

Both technologies can produce clean and high-quality prints, provided the print head remains clean and free of clogs. Canon printers cost less, but their lifespan is shorter.
