With the Canon iX6820, there is the ability to connect to your network via Ethernet and Wi-Fi; whereas the iP8720 only offers a Wi-Fi option. For the most stable connection, choose a hard-wired option such as USB or Ethernet is the best option; Wi-Fi is more complex to set up and maintain, but under the proper conditions it works well.
NOTE: Not all Canon models follow the same process when setting up on a local network. For models other than the iX6820 and iP8720, check the Canon website for the specific setup instructions for your device.
