Save Film With N-UP (Nesting) in AccuRIP® Emerald

AccuRIP® Emerald’s N-UP (nesting) feature helps screen printers save film by automatically positioning separations for the most efficient layout. When activated, N-UP optimizes media usage by arranging artwork based on the selected film size.

When printing to Emerald from a graphics application, it's important to add a gutter if nesting is planned. A gutter refers to leaving space between separations so they aren’t touching. For instance, a 5x5" document with a 4.5x4.5" image creates a 1" gutter between separations. To ensure ample space between separations after printing, add at least 1/4-1/2 inch on all edges when cropping the artboard to fit the design.

Note: N-UP maximizes film space based on multiple separations from a single file.

Example of N-UP (Nesting) in Action

An 8-color left chest design on a 4” x 4” document will:

  • Fit four across and two down on a 17” film roll.
  • Fit two prints side by side on an 8.5” x 11” sheet, continuing down the sheet as needed.
