Using an All Black kit with AccuRIP® Emerald will enhance the overall quality and density of your prints. Stock OEM Canon pigment inks are not ideal for film printing, as extensive testing has shown they don’t perform well in the exposure process compared to dye-based inks.
STEP 1:
Start by setting up your printer with the stock OEM Canon inks. Once installed, perform a nozzle check using either the Canon Utility or by pressing and holding the RESUME button until the POWER lamp flashes white twice, then release it. The printer will print a nozzle check. If the nozzle check prints cleanly and shows all sections, proceed to Step 2.
STEP 2:
Remove OEM cartridges from the printer and keep them on hand for emergency needs. Keeping the refillable cartridges on their orange sleds while filling will reduce the chances of ink seeping from the bottom of the cartridges. Using the blunt fill needle and syringe from the kit, fill each cartridge ¾ of the way up with Dmax, allowing the sponge in the back chamber to soak up the ink being inserted into the cartridge; keep the cartridges in the upright position when filling. Once each is filled, place the rubber stopper into the fill hole.
STEP 3:
One by one, remove the orange sleds from the cartridge and insert them into the printer. Once all are inserted, run a head cleaning from Canon Utility, followed by a nozzle check to ensure all slots are printing properly.
NOTE: The nozzle check should show BK (Black), Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and PGBK (Pigment Black). The iP8720 will also display Gray.
If only PGBK is printing, perform an additional 1-2 head cleanings, followed by nozzle checks, until all slots print correctly.
